President Tinubu has appointed Prof. Adelabu as NECO board chair (Registrar Wushishi retained). Prof. Salako chairs NBTE, reappointing Prof. Bugaje as executive secretary for a final five-year term. Dr. Binfa becomes rector of Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam. Prof. Anunobi gets a final term as National Library DG. The president approved these changes.

President Bola Tinubu has approved a raft of new appointments and reappointments in key agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education. The changes, announced in a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, affect the National Examinations Council (NECO), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam in Plateau State, and the National Library of Nigeria.

Professor Modupe Adeola Adelabu, a retired Educational Administration professor and former Ekiti State deputy governor, has been named Chairman of NECO’s Governing Board. The current Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi, remains in his role.

For the NBTE, President Tinubu appointed Professor Babatunde Salako, a respected academic and former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (2016–2024), as Chairman. The incumbent Executive Secretary, Professor Idris M. Bugaje, has been reappointed for a second and final five-year term.

At the Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam, Dr. Bongfa Binfa—who holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and was Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny—has been appointed Rector for a single five-year term. He succeeds pioneer Rector Dr. Mukaila Zakari Ya’u, whose tenure ended in March 2026.

Meanwhile, Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi, first appointed in September 2021, will serve a final five-year term as Director-General of the National Library of Nigeria. Her tenure has seen major reforms, including the National Repository and National Virtual Library. The president said the renewal ensures continuity, completion of the Abuja headquarters, and implementation of the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan.
